Zine Final Artist Reflection and Statement

Updated: Mar 4

Yeah so we did the Zine thing and it was super cool and fun. I honesty had a great time making this and will definitely be making more in the future. Doing the critique and being able to listen to my classmates feed back was really helpful, in my reflection of the work. I think that my themes got across fairly well, and people were able to at least understand each page on their own. I think the throughline to connect each page could've been a little more clear on my part, but I guess I could also chalk it up to the abstract style and concept.

Putting the actual Zine together, physically was probably the biggest challenge of the assignment. I had to go through a couple of drafts before I fully got the hang of the construction and printing process. I'm relatively happy with the finished product, despite being a little skeptical of the digital approach. I'm definitely a little more comfortable just using paper and pencil, but was surprised by how easily I was able to reach a consistent workflow using Illustrator and Photoshop.

Here are the two pages that I found to be most emblematic of my themes and also the best in quality.
